Interview Tips and Tricks Know when to stop talking! This may seem obvious to some but it is not to others. If you are consider by most to be a people person, make a special note to limit your conversation to questions asked. Far too often people offer more information than the interviewer wants to know. Keep your conversation on topic and to the point. Maintain eye contact! In a recent survey most interviewers look for eye contact. Why? Eye contact demonstrates confidence. Maintaining eye contact may seem unconfortable for some people. If you fall into this group, work on it:) Do not feel the need to stare into the eyes of the interviewer every second of every minute. Practice your conversation. Practice basic questions and answers in front of a mirror. I know, I know - you might think this is not for you:) Try it! You will be surprised to see just how well this works. This technique can also help to maintain eye contact. Speak intelligent. Speak at the level of your potential job. If you are applying for a technical position, brush up on the terms and processes before the interview. Try not to overuse the following: and, but, ain't, uhhhh. You might be surprised how often you include these words in everyday conversation. Most important - be yourself! The interview process is used to not only ensure the potential employer you are good from them, but that the potential employer is good for you. Get some good rest the night before your interview, take a deep breathe prior to entering the building and relax.
